The Founder of Qi Cultivation, Reincarnates?

Chapter 387 384- War At The Southern Border (2)

"I wanted to get this over with by killing them, but those three haven\'t made a move to attack. This isn\'t like these mindless Sea Beasts, it seems like this attack is a thought-out plan, completely different from the beast waves up until now. If I were to compare their behavior now, it would be similar to that time. Hm?"

Upon mumbling up to here, Lieutenant Meng\'s face suddenly changed and he quickly rose into the air.

His gaze swept over the battlefield down below where the Sea\'s water level had already risen to reach the base of the second wall.

The wall itself was trembling nonstop as it was continuously being attacked by the Sea Beasts inside the water. The Borderners had already engaged them in a battle to prevent them from destroying the second wall.

Lieutenant Meng then raised his head from the Sea Beasts\' attacking from the Sea to those attacking from the sky. Afterwards, his gaze came to a stop out at Sea where those three low-tier Rank 4 Sea Beasts were still showing no signs of moving.

"Damn it, why didn\'t I realize this sooner? These Sea Beasts are being too aggressive in trying to destroy our formations compared to before. It\'s as if they were afraid of us thinking this isn\'t a mid-level beast wave. But this attack isn\'t, this could likely be a cover-up for something else."

"I see your deductions skills haven\'t faded away second brother."

A voice suddenly said from next to Lieutenant Meng in the air after his words.

Turning his head to the side, Lieutenant Meng saw a young man that looked in his mid to late twenties that had a sword strapped to his waist.

His bearing was refined and elegant, almost resembling a woman\'s. And his aura, or rather lack thereof, was extremely eye-catching.

He was indeed a cultivator to be able to float motionlessly in the air, but even if one looked at him closely, he gave off no indication that would make one think he was nothing more than a mortal.

Lieutenant Meng showed a bit of surprise when he saw this young man as he said.

"Third youngest brother, why are you here? Is this really a high-level beast wave?"

The young man looked down at the battlefield and then out at sea before he replied.

"We don\'t know. And I\'m not the only one who has shown up, our eldest brother is here as well."

"He is?!"

Lieutenant Meng blurted out before he began looking around in all directions.

"You won\'t find him since he\'s hiding his presence from us, but I can vaguely sense his saber aura."

"His saber aura?"

"Hm, it\'s currently locked onto something out at Sea."

The young man pointed towards the blue-filled horizon as he said that.

Hearing that, Lieutenant Meng\'s expression became solemn.

"Is it one of the Sea Lords?"

"Perhaps, but I am not as strong as our eldest brother to battle and win a Sea Lord so I\'m not entirely sure, but only such an existence would make our eldest brother leave seclusion. And the situation seems peculiar as well, reports came in that the other borders are facing a similar attack."

"The other borders too? If the scale of the attack is so large but so well coordinated, then it\'s not entirely impossible that the newly appointed Sea King is behind this."

"You think so too second brother? That Beast King was once one of the four Sea Lords when he betrayed the Leviathan Race and hunted down its subsidiary branches; eventually eradicating their bloodlines completely before claiming to be the next Sea King. For a beast like that who went so far in pursuit of power, since we have the one thing that could jeopardize his reign I think he had been far too silent. But now that it had come to this, I wish he had have remained silent."

"No, little brother, this should be a good thing. After nearly two decades of silence, he must have built up a lot of strength. If we prevent his advances now and deal as much damage as we can to the Sea Beasts, then we\'d have a longer period of peace."

"Hm, I guess you\'re right, and who knows, maybe I\'ll finally be able to use this thing dangling at my waste."

The young man pointed at his sword.

"But what\'s with you today second brother? You\'re thinking an awful lot more than usual. If someone heard you they would probably think you were some wise commander."

"Bastard, are you looking down on me, your older brother?"

Lieutenant Meng glared at the young man as he said that.

If it was someone else he would have pounced on them, but because it was his youngest brother who embarrassingly had higher cultivation than him, Lieutenant Meng could only glare threatening at him.

The General of the Winger Tiger Battalion, Shi Chun, the General of the Extermination Battalion, Shi Lei Hu as well as its Lieutenant, Shi Meng, were three brothers that were quite well known at the four borders.

They were from the Shi Clan, which was one of the few Clans that were around as long as the Border itself.

The Shi Clan were in charge of the Extermination Battalion, one of the top battalions, and the three brothers were once rising stars of their generation.

There had been some drama back then when the youngest decided to train the sword instead of the clan\'s standard saber, and even went on to create the competing Winger Tiger Battalion that focused on the sword, but such history was for another time.

Shi Chun chuckled at his older brother\'s words before he turned his attention back to the battlefield.

"Second brother, tell me what would happen if I just exterminate these beasts. I really don\'t like how this situation is shaping up to be."

Shi Chun was wearing a smile as he said those bone-chilling words.

Shi Meng saw Shi Chun place his hand on his sword by his waist and felt the sword aura that was beginning to leak from him. It made his scalp tingle.

\'Has the youngest attained a higher enlightenment of the sword? Eldest brother was right, his talent in the sword is far greater than his own in the saber. I can\'t imagine what he would have achieved if father hadn\'t forced him to cultivate our Raging Void Sea, neither can I fathom how much regret it would have been if eldest brother hadn\'t convinced father to let him cultivate the sword.\'

Shi Meng said \'convince\' but instead it was more like blackmail. The former head of the Shi Clan and Extermination Battalion was very strict with them growing up and put the clan as well as the Battalion\'s interests before them. He would have rather died than have Shi Chun use a sword.

It took Shi Lei Hu threatening to cripple his own cultivation to have their father agree. Though it led to Shi Chun being kicked out of the clan, Shi Meng and Shi Lei Hu had still supported him despite their father\'s protests.

"Second brother… second brother!"

"Huh?"

Shi Meng was snapped out of his thoughts by Shi Chun.

"You didn\'t answer my question."

Shi Chun said, and Shi Meng watched as his brother looked back and forth between the battlefield and him while holding onto his sword. His refined demeanor vanished to reveal his true attitude, an obsessive sword cultivator madly in love with fighting, so much so he would try to find any reason to draw his sword—a truly trigger-happy person.
